Deadpool and Wolverine are bringing the Time Variance Authority from Loki to the big screen. However, director Shawn Levy doesn’t want to take all the credit for the similarities between the two projects. In a new interview with Total Film , the Deadpool and Wolverine filmmaker explained how long he’s been planning this narrative. 2 years ago, in an era in Marvel’s time, he decided to use the popular TVA elements from Loki to tell his latest story with Ryan Reynolds. So, he didn’t even get to see the overwhelming support for Loki season 2. Little did he know that most MCU fans would praise Tom Hiddleston’s “swan song” as the popular Marvel character. So, as is often the case in the world of entertainment, a fair bit of coincidence paves the way for a massive hit.
“I would love to take credit for those similarities,” Levy told Total Film. “Something we definitely want to do, but there are some coincidences, and we came out with ‘Marvel Jesus’ two years ago. People love to join bandwagons, even when they’re positive, but frankly even more so when they’re negative.”

After so much talk about connecting Marvel properties, there’s concern among some moviegoers about the idea of ”homework” to understand Deadpool and Wolverine. Shawn Levy says you can feel free to leave your Marvel encyclopaedia at home this time around. Yes, things are connected to Loki and TVA from that series. However, you’ll be out of your depth if you decide to watch Deadpool and Wolverine without thinking. Most people who are excited for the third film featuring The Merc with a Mouth have probably already tuned into TVA on Disney+. But, for those who haven’t, this is a nice little concession.
“I was a good student in school. I will do my homework as an adult. But I’m certainly not going to do homework when I go to the movies,” Levy told The Associated Press about brushing up on the MCU to enjoy Deadpool and Wolverine . “I certainly made this movie with a healthy respect and gratitude to the hardcore fans who have the most fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world. But I didn’t want to presume that. This movie is made for entertainment, with no obligation to come in having done the research beforehand.”

As reported by Screen Rant at ComfestCon, Tom Hiddleston talked about his potential appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine, saying, “I don’t know, and even if I did know… I probably wouldn’t be allowed to tell you. I really don’t know, Marvel is really protective of their information. I’ve seen the trailer; it looks cool.”
Speaking to Variety, Tom Hiddleston revealed that he wants his character to fight against Loki, Wolverine and Daredevil. “The X-Men, they’re back, right? Wolverine’s in there too. My friend Charlie Cox plays Daredevil, and he’s got a show coming up,” the Thor actor said.
He added, “I think Wolverine was in the original Avengers as far as I can remember, so there’s some comic book history there. I’ll have to dig out my old comic books and see what his story is.”
Fans will have to wait a few more months to know if Tom Hiddleston’s character Loki will appear in Deadpool and Wolverine. The film is set to release in July this year.
